Auth only works on local server

05 Jun 2012, 00:43

I've set up a .htaccess and .htpasswd for a site on my server. When I visit the site from a remote machine, I get prompted for a login and password but can not get authenticated. If I attempt the same on the local server where Helicon is installed , I am able to authenticate without a problem.

I am using the trial version of the tool but as far as I can tell, it should work locally or remotely during the trial period. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the authentication would act differently remotely? I reviewed the permissions and confirmed that the IIS user has read access to both files.

Hello,

First, please make sure that Windows authentication is turned off (except Anonymous).
Also, please check the error.log in Helicon Ape installation folder for possible error messages.
And please show the config you use for authentication.
