Unable to install Redmine on Windows Server 2008

Hello, first, please understand I am a complete novice when it comes to configuring a Ruby on Rails system of any kind. This is a crash course for me.

I was successful installing Redmine on my Windows 7 Pro system, but I had also been installing Ruby, Rails, and so forth via the Ruby Installer (other source), so I'm not sure that had something to do with it.

Now I would like to install Redmine on our development server via the Microsoft Web Platform Installer, and running into the following issue.

We are running Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2. It's been recently built so it's fairly vanilla for roles and installed software. What do we need to install first in order for this to work?

After that may need some direction to replace the default database support with Sql Server 2008.

From what I can tell the process got tripped up over a couple of steps:

1) There's no C:\Windows\sysnative\msiexe.exe that I can tell. There is, however, a C:\Windows\System32\msiexe.exe.

2) There's no C:\Zoo\Tools anything. I was able to extract the SFX however and manually apply the processed from the command line. So far so good.

If I run HeliconZoo_0042_x64.msi I get an error: "Helicon Zoo native module for IIS7 Setup Wizard ended prematurely."

This seems to be the last step in the automated installation.

Or we could simply take the application zip and build it by hand?

Now we've somewhat got past these errors, installed remaining steps by hand building out the redmine bundle, and now we're getting the following error:

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

This happens when we're browsing to one of the web sites on the system. The App Pool(s) are failing to stay up. They continually go down.

The error we get is this: "The Module DLL C:\Zoo\NativeModule\HeliconZoo_x64.dll failed to load." in the Event Viewer.

Novel idea as long as it works, but it's obviously not working on Windows Server 2008.

So, Helicon guys, this is unacceptable. How do we disable HeliconZoo, or just uninstall Zoo altogether?

So to recap, install process tripped up over itself. Had to do some steps manually. Process gradually moved to complete, but still failed for Zoo (I think). Completed Redmine install by hand, including ImageMagick (unrelated, but I'll mention it). Now there is something from Zoo stuck that IIS is expecting. Yet if I look at C:\Zoo, there's nothing there, nothing in C:\Zoo\NativeModule either. What's stuck where that we can get rid of for our IIS to be healthy again?

To recap: getting the premature failure installing HeliconZoo x64 on Windows Server 2008. Not sure it's a dependency we're missing, or what. Okay, I've faked IIS out by copying my local Zoo files to the IIS machine. That I can tell, this seems to have gotten past the 503 error, for now. Not sure what else might be missing there, what steps, registration, etc. I'd like to see it install cleanly.
